At the beginning of the new year, all library users will have access to a state-of-the-art Bookeye Supervision Scanner in the library.
Now you can quickly and easily create digital copies in color, grayscale or b/w up to a size of DIN-A2.
The data is stored on a USB stick. You can choose the PDF or JPG format for file output. The new scanner is operated intuitively via a touch screen and is equipped with a book-preserving rocker switch.

The Vienna Library in the City Hall can look back on a long history as an institution of the City of Vienna. Since the late Middle Ages there has been a library of the city of Vienna, which was built in the late 18th century under Joseph II. was dissolved. In April 1856, the Vienna City Council decided to establish a “well-equipped communal library”. Today, the Wienbibliothek is one of the three largest scientific libraries in Vienna.
She was engaged in researching and documenting the history and culture of Vienna. From the second half of the 19th century onwards, the collections and book collections experienced a significant growth due to the acquisition of numerous bequests and legacies from public, artistic and scientific figures.
In 1905 the manuscript and music collections were installed as special collections. In 1923 the poster collection was added and in 1930 the documentation. The collection of printed matter is by far the oldest partial collection, its beginnings date back to the 15th century.
Today, the Wienbibliothek is housed in the City Hall with three of its five collections. The music collection and documentation are located in the immediate vicinity of an apartment designed by Adolf Loos in Haus Bartensteingasse 9, but the use of the holdings of both collections is in the Town Hall.
